Art and Old Concepts 

Matchstyx as a concept spent a couple years in the making, and during that time went through some large and numerous changes. The plot itself is a fusion between an older comic idea (that was heavily christianised for some reason) and a stress dream/nightmare that I had. The Greek myth aspect was picked up before I dropped the christian parts (Eros’ predecessor was a runaway cherub) and the two plots lived side-by-side for a bit, before I merged the old comic with the dream.

Some of the very first art I did for MS was a couple of draw-the-squad template memes. This was before I had the character designs nailed down, however they’ve generally stayed the same for the main characters since then.

Fun fact, these two characters got merged together to form Michael as a character. They originally took care of an (unnamed) runaway cherub (Eugene’s precursor). Rather fitting. 

the one with the brow hair was an network engineer, which was Michael’s original job before it changed to match his character and plot more.
